Can I speed up Blackboard's response time when I add or modify a content item?

As Blackboard has matured, the system has been implementing new features designed to make publishing content easier. One such feature is the Visual Text Box editor (VTB). The VTB allows web publishers to add content in a wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) format. However, it is slower than the old style editor.

If you find that content pages load to slowly when you want to update them, or you prefer working in HTML, you can set the VTB default to "unavailable" in your "Personal Information" setting. This option is available from your home page.

1. Click on the Home tab at the top of the Blackboard screen.

2. Select Personal Information from the Tools box in the upper left corner.

3. Select Set Visual Text Box Editor Options

4. Change the availability to unavailable.

5. Click the Submit button.
