Create Grading Schemas

The Grade Center Grading Schemas feature allows you to assign percentage ranges to specific grade displays. For example, it allows you to assign 93% to 100 % to the letter grade of A. The following diagram shows the default system grading schema:

You can modify the default schema or create your own customized grading schema.


Follow these steps to create a grading schema:

1. In the Grade Center, click the Action Link button next to Manage in the Action Bar. Click the Grading Schemas link.


2. The Grading Schemas page will appear. Click the Add Grading Schema button to create a grading schema.


3. The Add Grading Schema page will appear. Enter the name of the Grading Schema and type in each grade display with its corresponding percentage range. Click the Submit button when done.

4. You will return to the Grading Schemas page. The grading schema that you have just created will be displayed on the page. Click the OK button when done.

5. You will return to the Grade Center. Locate the grade item column where you want to use the grade schema. Click the Action Link next to the column header and click to choose the Modify Column link from the drop down menu.

6. In the Modify Column page, click the down arrow next to the Primary Display list box and select the schema that you have created. (Or, click the down arrow next to the Secondary Display list box and select the schema that you have created.) Click the Submit button when done.

7. The grade column will display according to the grading schema.
