How do I embed a YouTube Video into Blackboard?

You have two options:

o You may provide a link directly to the YouTube video, which takes your students to that web page.
o You may load the video directly into Blackboard, to play within a Blackboard content page.
To provide a link to the YouTube page:

1. Click on the course which you are teaching.
2. Click on the Control Panel link in the lower left hand side of your screen.
3. Choose a Content Area under which to link your video. For example, if you would like your video to be an assignment, click on Assignments.
4. Click on External Link.
5. Type in a name for your link.
6. Copy and paste the URL from the address bar into the URL box below Title.
7. If you would like, add a description of your video into the Text box.
8. Under Options, choose the settings:

a. To make your video available, select Yes.
b. Select whether or not you would like your link to open in a new window.
c. Select whether or not you would like to track the number of views of the video.
d. Select the dates for which you would like the video to be posted.
To embed the video directly into a content page:
-
1. Click on the course which you are teaching.
2. Click on Control Panel link in the lower left hand side of your screen.
3. Choose a Content Area under which to link your video. For example, if you would like your video to be an assignment, click on Assignments.
4. Click on Add Item.
5. Open YouTube and go to the page of the video you would like to embed.

a. On the right panel, copy all of the text inside the Embed box.
6. Type in a name for your video.
7. Click the “<>” symbol.
8. Paste the text you just copied inside the Text box in your Blackboard page.
9. Under Options choose the settings:

a. To make your video available, select Yes.
b. Select whether or not you would like to track the number of views of the video.
c. Select the dates for which you would like the video to be posted.
10. Click Submit.
