Changing your course’s language setting:
Blackboard version 7.1 allows instructors to change language displayed on the course site from English (the default language) to Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.
COURSE > CONTROL PANEL > SETTINGS > SET LANGUAGE PACK
To set the language pack, go into the control panel and click on “Settings” in the lower left quadrant of your screen. In the settings menu, click on “Set Language Pack”, at the bottom of the list of options. In the “Select Language Pack” section of the screen, click on the Language Pack drop-down menu (where it says “System Default” and choose the language you want displayed on your Blackboard site. If you do not want your students to have the option of switching their individual interface with the site back to English, then click on the “Enforce Language Pack” box so that a check appears. Then click the “Submit” button on the lower right corner of the page.
If your course language is not one currently supported by Blackboard, it is still possible to have menu items appear in that language, as well as to use functions such as the discussion board in the target language.
In the control panel, click on “Manage Course Menu” in the lower left quadrant of the screen.
COURSES > IMAGE COLLECTION > CONTROL PANEL > MANAGE COURSE MENU
In the “Name” field, there is a drop down menu with commonly used menu items and below that there is a second text box that repeats the name of the selected menu item. In that second box, type in the menu item as you want it to appear (this may entail enabling a foreign language font and keyboard configuration on your computer), then click the “Submit” button in the lower right corner of the screen. Your menu item will now appear in your target language.
