View or Grade Students' Submission for Tests, Assignments, and Discussion Board
From BbWiki
Assessments, assignments and graded discussion board forums or threads will be automatically created in the Grade Center after you add these items to the course content areas. If a test requires you to grade manually, an exclamation mark in a green box (Needs Grading) symbol will display in place of the actual grade. The same symbol will also be displayed for any assignments or SafeAssign assignments that students submitted and that require grading.
For a graded discussion board forum or thread, you must grade and submit the grades in the Discussion Board. The grades will then automatically display in the Grade Center.
All these automatically created grade columns will be added to the right of the last existing column. In order to view and grade these columns easily, you may want to reorder these columns and/or hide some columns. Click the Organize the Grade Center link See Organize Grade Center for more information.

Notes
Clear Attempts
After the students click the Submit button to submit the assignment, they will not be able to resubmit the assignment again. They can view the result of the assignment through the link but they will not be able to change their submitted work. If you want the students to resubmit their assignment, you need to clear their attempt in the Grade Center. However, all the student’s previous work, your comments (if any), and his/her grade will be lost. You also have to clear the student’s test attempt, if you want the student to retake a test when the multiple attempts option of the test was not turned on.
Download Files
The Assignment File Download link will allow you to save multiple students’ submissions as one zip file to your computer. When you unzip the zip file, you can grade all your students submissions in one central location. You can clean up or remove multiple students’ files associated with an assignment by clicking the Action Link button next to the desired assignment column and select the Assignment File Cleanup link.
Timed Tests
If an instructor enables the timer for a test, it just sets the "Expected Completion Time". If students take longer than this time, the grade center will show a green exclamation mark indicating the student exceeded the expected time. Clicking on the grade center cell will show the grade. To see the actual time used for the test, hover over the grade center cell with the green exclamation mark, click on "Grade Details", go to the "Attempts" section, and click "View Attempt". The time will be displayed near the top of the page..
