We started off with brainstorming our own ideas. We all agreed that after seeing pictures of the plane with square windows it would be a good idea to minimize sharp points wherever possible. We brainstormed many ideas from using trusses in the center to cutting circles on the side. We also decided to minimize the mass by cutting triangles within the robotic arm. By lowering the mass we consequently lowered our score.

Our final displacement volume score was .149 with a mass of .92. We are happy with the strength of our arm and believe it will create a sturdy mechanism when holding a pencil. Our design capitalized on the collective thoughts of our group members and used the ideas of no sharp points and sturdy triangles.
