Some steps towards making classes more effective and inclusive

  1. Decide what you want your students to take away from your course, and use backward-design to accomplish your goals[1].
  2. Employ active learning techniques.
  3. Foster a growth mindset in your students.
  4. Modify and limit the effects of implicit biases.
  5. Understand and reduce stereotype threat.
  6. Provide wise feedback and opportunities for values affirmation.
