Research shows that students' academic interest and performance in economics increase when they receive implicit messages that they belong in the field and when they see how economics can be used to examine issues important to them (Bayer, Bhanot, and Lozano 2019, Bayer, Bhanot, Bronchetti, and O'Connell 2019, Porter and Serra 2019).

Here is a rich list of videos showing diverse economists talking about their research, along with suggestions for how to connect to them to a standard economics curriculum. The resource is a joint project of the AEA's CSWEP, CSMGEP, and Div.E.Q.
