Description
The basic idea of bilingual transfer, showing input text becoming tagged (analysis), being transferred to tagged text in the target language (transfer), and generated to text in the target language (generation). The mapping between the two sets of tagged text is colour coded (described below), and much of how to deal with the mappings relies on structural transfer.
Contents
The first line is labelled "input text", with the content "I did not notice the cacti".
The second line is labelled "tagged", with the content ^prpers<prn><subj><p1><mf><sg$ ^do<vaux><past>$ ^not<adv>$ ^notice<vblex><inf>$ ^the<det><def><sp>$ ^cactus<n><pl>$^.<sent>$
.
The third line is labelled "tagged", with the content ^мен<prn><pers><p1><sg><nom>$ ^кактус<n><pl><acc>$ ^байка<v><tv><neg><past><p1><sg>$^.<sent>$
.
The fourth line is labelled "translation" with the content "Мен кактустарды байкаган эмесмин".
A line with an arrow points from the first line to the second line, labelled "analysis".
A line with an arrow points from the second line to the third line, labelled "transfer".
A line with an arrow points from the third line to the fourth line, labelled "generation".
The colour coding matches the following content across the lines:
- "I" =
<prn><subj><p1>…<sg>
=мен<prn><pers><p1><sg>
and<p1><sg>
of the verb = "мен" and "мин" - last "d" of "did" =

= "гөн" - "not" =

=<neg>
= "эмес" - "notice" =
байка<vblex>
=байка<v><tv>
= "байка" - "the" =
<def>
=<acc>
= "ды" - "cact" =

=кактус<n>
= "кактус" - last "i" of "cacti" =
