	We based our Mirandese keyboard off of the European Portuguese keyboard (as seen on [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_QWERTY_keyboard_language_variants#Portuguese this Wiki page]) given that most-if not all-Mirandese speakers also speak Portuguese, and thus, are likely to be familiar with said keyboard. We chose the European Portuguese variant over another QWERTY like the American English keyboard because there was more overlap in terms of symbols, and this way we would not have to make too many significant changes in the layout. We made some slight adjustments, assuming the keyboard would strictly be used to write in Mirandese. To match the number of keys on our Windows keyboard, we had to adjust the position of “< >.” We mapped them to Alt Gr + guillemets (« »). We also mapped the lowercase and uppercase u’s with tildes to Alt Gr + u/U as u is the only vowel that can have a tilde in Mirandese. We got rid of the Alt Gr code for the diaeresis, the grave accent dead key, and the tilde dead key. On the two keys to the right of the “+ *” key, we added combining characters for the acute accent (which applies to all vowels) and the circumflex accent (which applies to "e" and "o"). This way, one key is used to type every accented vowel using two keystrokes for both the acute accent and the circumflex.
