New page

My top three language choices, in order of preference:

== Chamorro ==
=== Morphological typology ===
Agglutinative language (according to wikipedia). Example data shows how affixes can be added to a root to modify the word.

=== Basic info ===
* 58,000 speakers in all countries (25,800 in Guam, as of 2013)
* Mostly spoken in Guam and Northern Mariana Islands
* National language of Guam, being taught at University of Guam
* Has shown significant decrease in fluency in the last century
* Some mutual intelligibility with Spanish
* Uses Latin script
* ISO codes '''ch''' and '''cha'''

This information comes from <ref>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chamorro_language</ref> and <ref>https://www.ethnologue.com/language/cha</ref>.

=== Finding text ===
I found a site, which claims to have a partial Bible translation in Chamorro <ref>http://worldbibles.org/linkWindow.php?translation=eng&language=cha&name=Chamorro&id=21479&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sacred-texts.com%2Fbib%2Fwb%2Fcmr%2Findex.htm&activeTab=resources</ref>, so hopefully that's actually a legitimate site. I might be able to find a Wikipedia page in Chamorro if that doesn't end up working for some reason.

== Lingala ==
=== Morphological typology ===
Agglutinative language (according to wikipedia). Example data shows how affixes can be added to a root to modify the word.

=== Basic info ===
* 2,146,210 speakers in whole world (2,040,000 in Democratic Republic of Congo as of 2000)
* Spoken in DRC
* Provincial language, which is the tier below national language
* Borrowed words from French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese
* Somewhat flexible orthography according to Wikipedia, but Ethnologue says Latin script
* ISO codes '''ln''' and '''lin'''

This information comes from <ref>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingala</ref> and <ref>https://www.ethnologue.com/language/lin</ref>.

=== Finding text ===
I found a short story here, but don't know how reliable the source is. <ref>http://lingalainstitute.org/2014/03/31/short-story-in-lingala-title-elonga-to-elonga-te-written-by-richard-ali-a-mutu/</ref> I think I should be able to find a page, though.

== Lakota ==
=== Morphological typology ===
Agglutinative (according to wikipedia). I couldn't find much information about this, though.

=== Basic info ===
* Only about 2,000 speakers, mostly in USA (as of 1997)
* Spoken in northern midwest United States
* Very threatened, though it is one of the largest Native American language communities
* Mutual intelligibility with Dakota, another Sioux language
* Uses Latin script
* ISO code '''lkt'''

This information comes from <ref>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakota_language</ref> and <ref>https://www.ethnologue.com/language/lkt</ref>.

=== Finding text ===
I found a large set of writings, but it labels it as Dakota instead of Lakota. I'm not sure at this point how similar the two are, though. <ref>https://books.google.com/books?id=124Xhw6w6OUC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ViewAPI#v=onepage&q&f=false</ref> I can probably find a page, though? I think?
