Tigrinya
Morphological typology
Tigrinya is a moderately synthetic language with typical Semitic morphology, with a masculine/feminine gender distinction and a singular/plural distinction on nouns, and verbs conjugated for person, number, and gender of subject. Adjectives and determiners agree in gender and number. Second and third person pronouns are marked for gender. Many nominal and verbal roots have typical Semitic triconsonantal templatic morphology, e.g., färäs 'horse' vs ’afras 'horses'. Nouns and pronouns are not marked for case, and genitive relationships are expressed via preposition or juxtaposition. [1]
