Hi there,

I'm Andrew, a second-semester senior compsci major (and Japanese minor). I just learned about this course the day before the semester began, so I'm not really sure what I should pick for a language. I'm (obviously) interested in Japanese, but that's a language that already has robust computational support. I guess that's something I need to think about!

Given my experience with Japanese, my language choices consist of languages that are thought to be relatives.

Amami hōgen (奄美方言)

Morphological typology

I was not able to find anything concrete about the morphological typology of Amami hōgen (other than talk pages on wikis arguing about the typologies of various hōgen as dialects vs. languages), but given that its close relative, Japanese, is an agglutinative language[1], it seems very reasonable to categorize Amami hōgen similarly.
