Miyako/Disambiguation
From LING073
Initial Evaluation of Ambiguity
The initial ambiguity was 1.16. (Following the addition of a few words to the lexc file and the correction of an error in the yaml file, it decreased to 1.11.)
Example of Ambiguity
The suffix ん can be used in multiple ways: it is the dative marker and is the negative and speculative suffix for verbs. It can be easily disambiguated by its placement within the sentence: If it's the end of a sentence, it cannot be dative but can be negative or speculative.
- なだあ みーん んちたい (Eyes filled with tears.)
- ^なだあ/なだ<n><top1>$ ^みーん/みー<v><npst><neg>/みー<n><dat>/みー<num><dat>/みー<v><spec>$ ^んちたい/んち<v><past>$
- Note: This sentence was not in my corpus. I modified a sentence involving filling up a basket with pears and made it about filling up eyes with tears.
- うらあ みーん (I don't see it.)
- ^うらあ/うら<pprn><p3><sg><nn><top1>$ ^みーん/みー<v><npst><neg>/みー<n><dat>/みー<num><dat>/みー<v><spec>$
- Note: This sentence was not in my corpus, but it seemed reasonable to construct based on other sentences present.
- おじさんな みーる (Look at the old man.)
- Note: This exact sentence was not in my corpus. I exchanged one nominal for another to get it.
