Lexical Selection

Here are documented one-to-many mappings in either direction for the language pair.

Khasi to Wôpanâak

kjat "foot/leg" => -ukhôt "leg", -seet "foot"

ngi "we (1st person plural pronoun)" => neenawun "we (exclusive)", keenawun "we (inclusive)" This is reflective of a deeper grammatical ambiguity with regards to first person plural forms throughout the languages.

meequn "feather, pen" => sner "feather", khulom "pen", khulom-sner "feather pen"

keesuk "sky, a day" => sngi "day, sun", bneng "sky"

wam-kha Evaluation

Current WER is 93.75%. Current PER is 93.75%. 12 out of 15 stems are translating correctly. The remaining stems are mô and weeqayach. The first is not translating because the Wôpanâak copula does not currently have a root lemma, and the second is due to a difference in the way the two texts realize "Let there be light" - in Wôpanâak this is expressed with a single verb, while in Khasi it is closer to "let light be".
