I think for this project I would appreciate having a partner with someone who a bit stronger in terms of linguistics. I have a decent foundation in Linguistics, and Linguistic theory, etc. however, I think that the majority of my cultivated skill-set is either niche, or pertaining more-so to computers and data-manipulation. Therefore, I think it would be better for me to have a partner who can supplement my existing skill-set.

1. Dungan Language (回族語言)

2. Dolgan Language (Дулҕан)

3. Balochi Language (بلۏچی)

Dungan Language

• Dungan (/ˈdʊŋɡɑːn/ or /ˈdʌŋɡən/) is a Sinitic language spoken primarily in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan by the Dungan people.
• Native speakers: 110,000 (2009 censuses)
• Language family: Sino-Tibetan
• ISO 639-3: dng

The language is primarily isolating, given that its grammar is closely related to Mandarin Chinese. As a variety of Chinese, Dungan is tonal. Most words in Dugan consist of one or two morphemes

• Dungan is unique in that it is one of the few varieties of Chinese that is not normally written using Chinese characters.

Dolgan Language

• The Dolgan [dɔlgæn] language is a Turkic language with around 1,000 speakers, spoken in the Taymyr Peninsula in Russia.[
• Native speakers: 1,100 (2010 census)
• Language family: Turkic (Northern Siberian)
• ISO 639-3: dlg

The language has vowel harmony, agglutinative morphology, subject-object-verb word order, and lacks grammatical gender.

• The Dolgan language started out having a Latin alphabet in the early 20th century. Over time, the Cyrillic alphabet was implemented instead since it is the same alphabet used by the related language, Yakut.

Balochi Language

• Balochi or Baluchi (بلۏچی) is an Iranian language spoken primarily in the Balochistan region of Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan.
• Native speakers: 8.8 million (2017–2020 census)
• Language family: Indo-European (Western Iranian)
• ISO 639-3: bal

The normal word order is subject–object–verb. Like many other Indo-Iranian languages, Balochi also features split ergativity. The subject is marked as nominative except for the past tense constructions where the subject of a transitive verb is marked as oblique and the verb agrees with the object. Balochi, like many Western Iranian languages, has lost the Old Iranian gender distinctions. There has been a constant move in almost all Iranian languages toward an analytic structure; i.e., the use of prepositions and word order rather than case endings to indicate grammatical relationships.

• Balochi was not a written language before the 19th century, and the Persian script was used to write Balochi wherever necessary.
